About Evan
I am Evan Newman, a licensed mental health counselor practicing in Boca Raton and Delray Beach, Florida. My practice is focused on adults over the age of 60.
The people I work with come to therapy for many reasons. Some are contending with depression, grief, anxiety, loneliness, or sleep difficulties. Some are struggling with a health problem, a difficult family situation, or the disorientation that can follow life changes or loss. And some come not because something is acutely wrong but because they want more from this period of their lives: more connection, more purpose, more vitality, a stronger sense of who they are and what matters to them now.
I built my practice around this population because the psychological challenges and opportunities of this stage of life are specific, they are common, and they are undertreated. The people I see have lived full, complex lives and are capable of serious self-reflection. They deserve care that respects that and that works toward something meaningful, not just the relief of symptoms but the possibility of real growth, satisfaction, and fulfillment.
I work closely with internists, psychiatrists, neurologists, and other providers across Palm Beach County to ensure that care is coordinated. For the people I serve, mental health and physical health are deeply connected, and I treat them that way.
I completed my postgraduate fellowship at the Karen Horney Clinic in New York City. I obtained my training at the American Institute of Psychoanalysis and the American Association for the Advancement of Psychoanalysis. I hold a master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northwestern University and a bachelor’s in literature from the University of Pittsburgh. I am a member of the Southeast Florida Association for Psychoanalytic Psychology (SEFAPP).
